Their story
Hermann Wilhelm Hammann was a Hessian state parliament member and local politician for the KPD. During the Nazi era, he was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp, where he saved the lives of 159 Jewish children. In 1984 he posthumously received the Israeli honorary title of Righteous Among the Nations.
