Max Aub, also Max Aub Mohrenwitz, was a Spanish writer of French origin with German ancestors. His life was marked by the European catastrophes of the 20th century: Spanish Civil War, World War II and the Holocaust. His six-volume novel cycle El laberinto mágico with around 3,000 pages is one of the most important depictions and literary analyzes of the Spanish Civil War.
