About their life

Hissène Habré was a Chadian politician. He was the dictatorial president of Chad from 1982 until his ouster in 1990. Previously, as a rebel leader, he fought the regime of his predecessor Tombalbaye. Habré's one-party system was characterized by serious human rights violations and campaigns of violence, particularly against Chad's non-Muslim ethnic groups. After his term in office, he was sentenced to life in prison for approximately 40,000 politically motivated murders.
