Ernest François Cambier is a Belgian officer and explorer of the Belgian Congo. In 1878, he took command of the first exploration and colonization expedition organized on behalf of the International African Association (AIC) in the Belgian Congo. From the eastern coast, he founded Karéma on Lake Tanganyika. From 1887, he participated in the creation of the first railway in the Congo linking Matadi to Léopoldville.
