Their story
Dmitri Grigorievich Pavlov was a Soviet soldier who fought in the Spanish Civil War, sent by the Soviet Union to support the Republican side. Once the Second World War began, he was the commander in chief in charge of the central sector of the Western Front during the first days of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, in June 1941. He was an army general (1941) and Hero of the Soviet Union (1937).
