Their story
Eleonore von Österreich war als sechste Tochter Kaiser Ferdinands I. eine Habsburgerin und durch ihre Heirat mit Guglielmo Gonzaga von 1561–87 Herzogin von Mantua. Aufgrund ihrer Erziehung war sie eine strenggeläbige Katholikin, widmete sich karitativen Werken und förderte gegen den Widerstand ihres Gemahls die Ansiedlung des Jesuitenordens in Mantua.
