Adolf Scherer was a Slovak soccer player, Czechoslovak representative, holder of a silver medal from the World Championship in Chile in 1962 and a bronze medal from the European Championship in 1960, a participant in the 1958 World Championship in Sweden, one of the best forwards in Czechoslovak history. Adolf Scherer's granddaughter Karin (*1980) was a handball player for the DHK Baník Most team, with which in the 2012/13 season she became the winner of the Czech-Slovak interleague WHIL, the champion of the Czech Republic and the winner of the fourth most important European club competition, the Challenge cup. After the end of this successful season, she announced the end of her active activities.
